Our vision is to provide a safe, stable and caring environment which exceeds required standard in meeting the needs of all looked after children and young people in care, enabling them to realise their potential and to enhance their life opportunities.
At Essex County Council we are not profit making, unlike other agencies. Our only motivation is the wellbeing of our children.
We know the incredible difference a foster carer can make to a child's life which is why we invest in high quality, bespoke training that is local and we ensure access to support is available 24/7. Foster placements provide the best experience for children in care and that's why we've recently increased our fees for foster carers as well as developed the training and support available.
We have the largest number of children in Essex which enables us to make the best possible match for our foster carers and their families. Committed in our approach, we take the time to slowly introduce children to their new environment for all of our specialist fostering schemes whether this takes days, weeks or months.
We provide different types of fostering; part-time and full-time on a short-term or long-term basis and specialist roles. This gives our carers great flexibility in how they choose to foster and best utilises their skills and experience.
Foster carers with Essex County Council have the opportunity to progress into specialist roles and we provide all the training and support to do so.

We offer all of our carers 28 days paid holiday so they can take back some time for themselves and continue to do a fantastic job giving children the best possible chance of happiness and allowing them to discover their potential.
If you are currently fostering with another agency and would like to transfer, please contact us for a confidential chat to find out about our excellent local training and support.
