Benefits to foster carers

Foster carers ambassador group

Our foster carers have voices and we actively listen to them and value their input. Our carers work closely with us to inform our recruitment strategy and have come up with some very creative ideas.

We seek foster carers' views because they are important to us and we believe that teamwork is the key to success.

Our ambassadors are exactly that, ambassadors, who regularly go out into their communities to represent and support us at events and during campaigns.

Membership to Essex Foster Carers Association (EFCA)

The EFCA is an independent charitable trust run by foster carers supporting all foster carers who provide care for looked after children within Essex County Council. They have regular members' meetings, telephone support, carer-to-carer support and will help resolve specific issues on behalf of carers.

They have representation on Essex County Council’s childcare committees to ensure the views of foster carers are heard in the development stages of planned changes. They also have representation at a national level through the Fostering Network and their meaningful connections to Parliament.

Refer a friend scheme

We will award our existing foster carers up to £1030 per successful referral as a thank you for your support. There is no limit to how many people you can refer.

Respite breaks

We offer 28 days paid holiday so carers can take back some time for themselves and continue to do a fantastic job giving children the best possible chance of happiness and allowing them to discover their potential.
